Special Appreciation: We want to thank Zack Lyon and Scout Troop 40 for placing storm drain markers in our addition. The storm drain markers represent a gentle reminder that we need to be diligent about keeping the creeks and drainage ways free of pollution. The ditches behind the homes and the creek downstream are living ecosystems with fish, turtles, and ducks capable of sustaining a variety of microscopic organisms that are important to good water quality. These organisms are very sensitive to pollution making curb markers even more important. Some pollutants for these areas include grass clippings or washing paint brushes in or near the gutter, which leads to the storm drain, the drain to the ditch, and the ditch to the creek. So by marking these environmental gateways and documenting their condition, we can improve our water quality. If you witness anyone dumping paint, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid or other hazardous materials into storm drains, drainage ditches or creeks, please call the Storm water hotline at 739-1352 immediately!
LOAN FOR THE PAVILION HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL!!
Assessment Collection: Our attorney, Mr. Rice has collected over $2,000 of delinquent dues for Oakwood East again this year. $7,000 is still owed for years past. Some of this money is uncollectible and we have to “write it off’. Bankruptcies are part of the loss to us. When you neglect to pay your assessment the penalties of court and attorney fees result in that being an expensive decision. We want to thank Mr. Rice for all his efforts on our behalf.
Insurance of Our Common Areas: One of the requirements for insurance is a copy of
our newsletter. Grace asked the broker last year if a different newsletter was
needed as the most recent one had articles warning about the requirement of
parental supervision and other problems in the pond area. The broker said “This
is the one to send in. It shows the insurance company you are trying your best
to protect the residents.”

Citation of Appreciation: State Rep. Gary Banz presented an Oklahoma Citation of
Appreciation, executed by him and State Sen. Cliff Alridge, to Gracie Sullivan
for her exemplary community service leadership as President of the Oakwood East
Homeowners Association for the past seven years. The Assn. has 620 homes plus a
park, playground, 2 ponds and 4 entrances over 10 acres. The citation goes on to
laud Gracie’s hard work and consistent effort on behalf of all homeowners, which
makes Oakwood East ‘one special place’ to live and raise a family. Rep. Banz
should know; he’s a valued resident of this community and takes time out of a
busy schedule to attend annual picnics and meetings to review/approve the budget
and formulate plans for the coming years. The special presentation was made at
Oakwood East’s annual meting, January 18, 2007 and reenacted at the State
Capitol on January 22, 2007, where he also gave Gracie and her husband Don a
special tour.
Special Thanks to Rick Braden for stocking our ponds again!!!
